A few years ago, Suzanne stumbled upon a photo of a little Jack Russell terrier mix that broke her heart. Although Susan already had a rescue dog at home, she began to imagine what it would be like to help another dog in need.
He told The Dodo:
«I was 10 years old and immediately understood that I love him. I queued out of the rescue center for three hours to make sure I was the first to register my interest. We connected the moment we looked at each other.»
Neville was found wandering the streets; His past was a mystery. But the woman was clear that the kitten had a hard life. Although Neville was very happy to be in his new home, the transition was not easy, especially as it got closer to lunchtime.
Shushanyan said:
«We believe they used it for breeding and clearly mistreated it. At first I would compete for food and try to eat directly from the floor or from my other dog’s plate.
«I have to teach him to eat from a bowl, and when he understood, he appreciated that bowl.»
Now Neville’s most prized possession is his food plate, which he takes with him everywhere. He even takes her to bed and sleeps with her every night.
«I think he never had his own and now he realizes that he finally has one and is guaranteed a reliable source of decent, nutritious food. It seems that he is very grateful for a simple bowl. I think it represents comfort and home.»
Neville also loves his half-brother, they are very close and seem to have been together all their lives.
Since being by her side, Neville has always been a source of love for Susan. She hopes her story can inspire others to adopt an older dog.
